Proprietor's Cuvée Merlot
The Merlot grape variety has recently become the preferred single variety red wine for many consumers. The grape itself is large (providing more juice), thin-skinned (providing softer tannins), and low in acid. These factors combine to create an approachable wine that is wonderful for sipping on its own, but also pairs well with a variety of food dishes.
Tasting Notes
Our winemaker’s signature is a fruit driven, full-bodied wine that displays the typical Merlot softness and roundness. A slight herbaceous aroma & excellent cherry & red berry notes predominate the palate, with a hint of cracked black pepper. The wine has a lingering, soft finish & excellent balance.
Awards and Accolades
"Full bodied, very soft style, with lots of vanilla/toast/oak influence in the finish. The flavours range from red berries and currant to cracked pepper, with complexity. A good choice with stews or roast meats."
Dan Kislenko, Wine Writer
"This shows quite fragrant currant-raspberry fruit with some pepper and tea complexity. Mid-weight with initial fruit then a drier, tartish finish. Good length."
